About Us
Pamela K. Bennett, Owner
Education
- M.L.S., Library Science, Texas Woman’s University, 2005
- M.Ed., Business Education, University of North Texas, 1986
- B.A., Business Education, Marygrove College, 1971
Ms. Bennett graduated from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, with a degree in Library Science (M.L.S.). Prior to that she earned a Master’s degree in Business Education (M.Ed.) from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Her Bachelor’s degree is also in Business Education (B.A.), granted by Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan.
Library Experience
Ms. Bennett has held various positions in the library field over the past seven years and is currently the Library Director at a Dallas area career school. Previous to her current position, Ms. Bennett was the Corporate Librarian for ATI Enterprises, Inc., and she was responsible for the oversight of the company’s 24 career school Learning Resource Centers. The campuses were accredited/approved by Accrediting Council of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), Council on Occupational Education (COE), and/or Texas Board of Nursing (BON), and Ms. Bennett helped each campus maintain proper policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance. She maintained the Virtual Library for the campuses, including virtual reference services. Ms. Bennett was also responsible for the training of local LRC personnel which included onsite training as well as web training.
Ms. Bennett interned at the Carrollton Public Library during her final year of her M.L.S. studies and continues to man the adult and children’s reference desks on an as-needed basis.

Over the last 20 years, Ms. Bennett has been a peer evaluator for the following agencies: the Accrediting Commission of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and the State of New York. In addition, she continues to lead onsite visit teams and serve on the Intermediate Review Committee for ACICS, evaluating other team onsite visit reports and recommending the initial grant, renewal, or deferral of accreditation to the Commission.
Consulting Experience
Ms. Bennett began offering library consulting services to local career schools in the Dallas area in 2009. She continues to provide these services to the Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, with the development of policies and procedures for their LRCs, annual collection evaluation and development, and local LRC personnel training as needed. She has also consulted with the staff of the Lawyer’s Assistant School of Dallas to provide input on policies and procedures, collection development, and database selection while offering virtual reference services (Ask a Librarian) to their students and staff.

Ms. Bennett is currently a professional member of the American Library Association (ALA), the Texas Library Association (TLA), the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA), the Florida Library Association (FLA), the New Mexico Library Association (NMLA), and the Arizona Library Association (AzLA). In 2012, she attended ALA’s Midwinter Conference and TLA’s Annual Convention and remains current through her association with other college librarians, web trainings, and professional reading. She will attend TLA’s Annual Convention in April 2013.
Over her 35-year career as a post-secondary instructor, registrar, academic dean, and librarian, Ms. Bennett has served on the Curriculum Committee for the Dallas Nursing Institute, was appointed to the Advisory Board for the City of Coppell, was a member of the THECB Library Task Force, and served on the Advisory Board on Student Education for the National Court Reporter's Association (NCRA).
